Check Your Hyatt Account– You Might Find a Great Offer!

Whether you want to stay in a Hyatt Place or a Grand Hyatt, check for offers to earn points back when you book a night with points at Hyatt! Photo by: Evan Berman

I’ve written before about Hyatt and how incredible value is not difficult to find. Each quarter (and especially in Q1 of a year), they release promotions to incentivise you to stay at a Hyatt property. This is by no means exclusive to Hyatt– Marriott, Choice, Hilton, Radisson, and others do the same. The difference? Hyatt points are worth significantly more and consistently so.

How to Find Your Offer

There are a couple of places that you can find a targeted offer. Let’s start with the easiest one.

Check Your Email

My offer, your’s may vary. Photo by: Evan Berman

Hyatt sent out emails earlier this week (mine was received on Tuesday) informing members of their targeted offers. It is important to note the word members– you do not need to have any type of elite status to receive these offers. That being said, you must have signed up for a Hyatt account since these are targeted offers.

My offer was:

Earn 20% Bonus Points back when redeeming points. You can earn up to 30K Bonus Points back—that’s enough for six free nights in a Category 1 hotel or one free night in a Category 7 hotel. You must register by February 28 and then complete qualifying activity by March 19, 2023.

Analyzing the Deal

This is a deal that has the potential for terrific value! Essentially, every time that I redeem points for a free night from now until March 19th, I will earn 20% back. So, if I redeem 2 nights at a category 1 hotel assuming standard rates (5,000 points per night), I will earn 10,000*.2= 2,000 points back. That means I am 2/5 of the way to another free night!

Note that the cap is 30,000 points– if I stayed 30 nights at category 1 hotels (again, assuming 5,000 points per night), I could earn 150,000*.2= 30,000 points. If I stayed a 31st night, I would earn no more points back. I do not have that much travel coming up but you might enjoy splurging on a Category 7 hotel at 30,000 points per night on a luxury vacation. If you were to stay more than 5 nights, then you wouldn’t get any more than 30,000 points back.

I wouldn’t recommend going out of your way to book stays Hyatt, but if you have upcoming travel this could prove a tipping point in choosing Hyatt over an alternative if booking with points. Just remember: you need to register for the deal before staying there! The travel can have already been booked, you just need to enroll before the stay occurs.

Check Your Hyatt Account

Sometimes you may not receive an email but have a targeted offer linked to your account. To see if that’s the case, log into your Hyatt account and navigate to the “Promotions and Offers” section of the account. Note: I do not see the above offer in my Hyatt account. That being said, if you don’t see an email from Hyatt, it’s worth the 30 seconds it takes to fire up the app and check!

Final Thoughts

It’s no secret that Hyatt is a popular program. From consistently excellent value on redeeming points to solid properties all across the price spectrum, there are many reasons to love it. Take advantage of this deal to get more points for stays you may have already planned or needed to plan! Just remember: you MUST register before you stay to earn these points! I hope you were targeted!
