Quick Tip: You Need to Call United to Change Frequent Flyer Account

With this tip, you can be closer to redeeming miles for a trip in the sky! Photo by: Evan Berman

I flew United recently and realized that I was crediting the flight to United, even though it was more advantageous to credit it to Avianca LifeMiles. For those wondering how I made the calculation, I consulted Where To Credit to make the determination.

You Must Call United After Booking

Had I realized this beforehand, I would have simply put in my LifeMiles number during the booking process. Unfortunately, that was not the case. I attempted to change my frequent flier number and was unable to do so. Sure enough, United requires you to call in in order to change the number after booking. So, I called the customer service line, gave the agent my flight information and LifeMiles frequent flier number, and he was able to make the change. So easy, yet an extra step!

Admittedly, this is a niche issue, but if you ever need to change your frequent flier number (even back to United), you MUST call the customer service line. That’s all for today!
