Beginning the Journey: Review of CHS-JFK Delta CRJ-900 In Economy

*Note: I earned Silver Status with this flight. I paid $30 for the checked bag but one of the benefits of status is a free checked bag. As you will see in the South American flight reviews, this would be the last time I pay for a checked bag.
Lounges:
As usual when departing CHS, we headed to The Club CHS, the only lounge. This lounge is small and prone to overcrowding, but when you can sit down it is a nice oasis above the terminal. We each had a drink but did not have enough time to order food. That would have to wait.
We deplaned in JFK at 8:25pm. We opted to grab a quick bite to eat at the Delta SkyClub nearby as opposed to waiting an hour for food and heading into the City immediately.
Experience:
As always, I am 6’2″ so legroom/space is something I care about a great deal. Main Cabin on these tiny planes is quite tight.
The flight itself was uneventful. We arrived early, despite leaving late. However, the plane was unable to approach the gate due to congestion. As such, we did not arrive at the gate until well after we landed.
I’ve flown this route several times before. While you fly a little puddle-jumper, the Delta operations are usually smooth. Flights to New York are always a gamble on the amount of turbulence and fortunately this time we had minimal.
