Home from Norway: Review of Delta CRJ-900 LaGuardia to Charleston in Economy
When I think of Christmas, I think of Delta and LaGuardia, don’t you? Photo by: Evan Berman
After nearly a week away from home, visiting Norway and New York, it was time to return home to Charleston. As is often the case when flying this route with Delta, I flew back on a small regional jet.
This review of my flight from New York- LaGuardia back to Charleston is a part of the larger Nordic Expedition. For more on this trip, follow these links:

Pricing:
Flight: I booked the one-way flight from New York to Charleston for $88.60. While not as remarkable as my previous roundtrip flight to Norway or $5.60 domestic flights booked using points, this is a terrific deal!
Earnings: 493 Delta SkyMiles
MQM: 641
MQS: 1
MQD: $69
Booking:
I booked this flight on Delta’s website. The deal with cash was so good that I opted not to use points to book the flight. I booked a Main Cabin fare. While I usually spring for the Comfort+ seats, I wanted to get first-hand experience on whether I would be upgraded. Unfortunately, I was not. 🙁
Lounges:
I visited the Delta SkyClub in Terminal C. While there is a Centurion Lounge at LaGuardia, it is located in Terminal B, and I would have to clear security again to access it. I didn’t suffer too much! 😉
I review my experience with the lounges in LGA in this article.
Recap:
As mentioned above, this plane is a CRJ-900. These tiny planes are frequently used on the flights to and from Charleston and are a bit… small! I opted for an aisle seat once it became apparent that I would not be upgraded. These Economy seats have miniscule legroom, so I try and stretch out as much as I can.
The CRJ-900 we flew has a setup of 1-2 seats in First Class and 2-2 in economy. There is no business class on these flights.
Meals:
When flying Delta in economy, you receive a choice of non-alcoholic beverage and Biscoff cookies. I opted for a water.
Sleep:
I did not sleep on this quick flight. Flights involving New York are notoriously turbulent and difficult to sleep in, though this one was not. Soon enough, I would be back home and able to comfortably sleep in my own bed!
Experience:
The flight took off on time which is a rarity for NYC-based flights. The entire flight only took 1.5 hours. As such, we ended up arriving nearly a full hour early! The flight itself was uneventful and did not offer much in the way of turbulence.
Customs:
N/A as this was a domestic flight.
Recap:
I purchased a one-way flight from LGA to CHS for $88.60. This is cheaper than most domestic flights and I was quite pleased with the deal especially as this was with Delta and I got a free checked bag as well as (the opportunity to receive) an upgrade. While I didn’t get one this, the flight was smooth and the great Nordic adventure came to an nice end. Next up: a recap of my wonderful trip and tips that I learned.
